What a full renovation includes
A full bathroom renovation takes the room back to the frame. Old linings, floor and fixtures are removed, the layout is reset if it needs to be, plumbing and electrical are re-run, the floor is screeded to fall, the room is waterproofed and inspected, then tiled, fitted out and finished.
Most Malvern bathrooms fall into two categories: an original room in a period home where the walls are lath and plaster and the plumbing is decades old, or an apartment or townhouse bathroom on a slab where waste positions are fixed. The first usually rewards a layout change; the second is often better spent on finish quality and storage.

Removing a bath for a walk-in shower, widening a doorway, borrowing space from a hallway cupboard, or keeping existing waste positions to control cost. Drawn before the quote is issued.
Waterproofing and tiling — the stage that decides everything else
Falls are screeded first so water runs to the waste, not to the door. Junctions, penetrations and hobs are detailed, the membrane is applied in coats with the required cure time between them, and nothing is tiled until it has been inspected. Tiling then follows the setout drawn at design stage, so cuts land where they were planned — at the niche edges, around the waste and at the screen line.

How long is a bathroom out of action?
It depends on room size, whether the layout changes and how long the waterproofing needs to cure. We set out a stage calendar with the quote and update it if a supply item is delayed.
Do I need to choose everything before work starts?
Tile, waste type, screen and niche positions must be locked before demolition, because they change the rough-in. Tapware finish and accessories can be confirmed slightly later, but before the fitout stage.
Can the layout be changed in an apartment?
Sometimes. On a concrete slab the waste positions are the constraint, and owners corporation approval is usually required. We assess this on site before quoting rather than assuming it.
What do I need to prepare before demolition day?
Clear the room and adjoining hallway, agree parking and access for the trades, and confirm the alternative bathroom arrangement. In terrace and semi-detached homes we also agree noise hours with neighbours.
