PERIOD HOMES | APARTMENTS | TOWNHOUSES
Malvern’s streets around Glenferrie Road and Wattletree Road are dominated by Edwardian and interwar homes, and their original bathrooms are typically narrow, with a single window, a small hallway approach and plumbing that was extended rather than planned. Once linings come off we often find timber floors that need re-sheeting and levelling before any membrane goes down.
Closer to Malvern Road and the Armadale border there are more converted flats and newer townhouses, where the bathroom sits on a slab and the waste positions are fixed. There the gains come from storage, screen type and lighting rather than moving walls.
LOCAL NOTES
Narrow side access on semi-detached homes affects how demolition waste leaves the site. Permit parking on residential streets is agreed before the first delivery. In apartment buildings, lift bookings and owners corporation approvals are handled before demolition is scheduled.
01
The most common Malvern job: one narrow room, a bath removed or replaced, new waterproofing over a re-sheeted timber floor and a full retile.
02
Upstairs ensuites in townhouses and rear extensions, where a walk-in shower, a wall-hung vanity and a linear waste buy back usable floor.
03
Where an older shower is failing, the wet area is stripped, re-screeded to fall, waterproofed and retiled rather than patched.
We work through the surrounding suburbs on the same schedule, which keeps trade travel short and delivery windows tight: Malvern East, Armadale, Toorak, Kooyong, Glen Iris, Prahran, South Yarra, Caulfield North and Carnegie.
Completed Malvern projects are published as case studies with before and after photography, the client brief, the design solution and the materials used. We add them only once a job is finished — nothing is listed here before it exists.
Room dimensions, a few photos and your preferred timeframe are enough to start. We follow up with a site assessment before anything is priced.
